Yale Schola Cantorum

Yale Schola Cantorum

Yale Universitys Premier Chamber Choir

Yale Schola Cantorum is a chamber choir that specializes in the performance of sacred music from the sixteenth century to the present day. It was founded in 2003 by Simon Carrington, and since then, it has been under the direction of several distinguished conductors. As of my knowledge cutoff in 2023, David Hill has been leading the ensemble. The choir is part of the Yale Institute of Sacred Music and works with eminent guest conductors as part of its educational and performance practice. The ensemble is known for its high level of musicality and for often collaborating with instrumentalists to perform both well-known and lesser-known choral works. Their performances are characterized by a blend of rigorous scholarship and interpretive depth, which has contributed to their reputation as a leading ensemble in the field of sacred music.
