White Spirit was a British heavy metal band that formed in the late 1970s. They were part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) movement, which included bands like Iron Maiden and Def Leppard, who gained popularity during this time. The band's lineup included guitarist Janick Gers, who later joined Iron Maiden. White Spirit released their self-titled debut album "White Spirit" in 1980, which featured a melodic hard rock sound with progressive elements. Despite their initial promise and the burgeoning scene around them, White Spirit did not achieve the same level of success as some of their contemporaries and eventually disbanded. Janick Gers' career notably continued as he became a member of Iron Maiden in 1990, contributing to the band's sound and success from then on.
