Walter Braunfels

German Composer and Pianist

Walter Braunfels (1882-1954) was a German composer and pianist who made significant contributions to the classical music repertoire in the early to mid-20th century. He was part of a generation of composers who sought to extend the Romantic tradition into the modern era. Braunfels received his musical education at the Hoch Conservatory in Frankfurt and later studied under Theodor Leschetizky in Vienna. His career was flourishing in the 1920s, with operas such as "Die Vögel" (The Birds), which gained considerable success.
