Desert Rock Pioneers

Unida is an American stoner rock band that was formed in 1998 after the dissolution of frontman John Garcia's previous band, Kyuss. The group is known for its heavy, riff-oriented guitar work, reminiscent of the desert rock scene from which they emerged. Alongside Garcia, the band originally included guitarist Arthur Seay, bassist Dave Dinsmore, and drummer Mike Cancino. Unida released their debut album "Coping With The Urban Coyote" in 1999, which received positive reviews within the stoner rock and heavy metal communities for its powerful sound and Garcia's distinctive vocals. The band's career was marked by a series of lineup changes and legal issues that prevented the release of their follow-up album. Despite these setbacks, Unida has maintained a cult following and is recognized for their contributions to the stoner rock genre. Their status within the music scene is often associated with the legacy of Kyuss and the continued influence of that seminal desert rock sound.
