French Romantic Composer and Organist

Théodore Dubois was a French composer, organist, and music teacher who lived from 1837 to 1924. He was a significant figure in the French musical community during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Dubois studied at the Paris Conservatoire and won the prestigious Prix de Rome in 1861. His career included serving as the choirmaster at the Church of the Madeleine and later as the organist there, succeeding Camille Saint-Saëns. In 1896, he became the director of the Paris Conservatoire, a position he held until 1905.
