The Quintet

The Quintet

Jazz Ensemble Blends Classic and Modern Styles

The Quintet that produced the album "Jazz at Massey Hall" is a renowned ensemble in the history of jazz, consisting of five legendary bebop pioneers: Charlie Parker on alto saxophone, Dizzy Gillespie on trumpet, Bud Powell on piano, Charles Mingus on bass, and Max Roach on drums. This group of influential musicians came together for a live recording on May 15, 1953, at Massey Hall in Toronto, Canada. Each member of The Quintet was a leading figure in the development of bebop during the 1940s and had a significant impact on the direction of jazz music.
