The Postal Service

The Postal Service

Indie Electronic Pop Duo

The Postal Service was an American indie pop supergroup from Seattle, Washington, formed in 2001. The band consisted of vocalist Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie, producer Jimmy Tamborello of Dntel and Headset, and Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley as a backing vocalist. They released their debut album "Give Up" in 2003 under the Sub Pop Records label. The album was a substantial success for an indie release, receiving platinum certification. Their music is characterized by a mix of electronic beats, synthesizers, and Gibbard's distinctive vocal style. Despite the success of "Give Up," The Postal Service was short-lived as an active band; they never released a full follow-up album. They did, however, release several singles and embarked on a reunion tour in 2013 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their debut. The band's name was inspired by the way Gibbard and Tamborello would send recordings back and forth through the mail to collaborate on their music.
