The Mantovani Orchestra, named after its founder and conductor Annunzio Paolo Mantovani, was one of the most popular orchestras in the world of light orchestral music during the mid-20th century. Born in Venice in 1905, Mantovani moved to England in 1912 and became known for his distinctive "cascading strings" effect, which became a hallmark of his lush orchestral sound. The orchestra's recordings were widely acclaimed for their characteristic arrangements and were particularly successful in the United Kingdom and the United States during the 1950s and 1960s.
