Soulful R&B Trio from the 1970s

The Main Ingredient is an American soul and R&B group that formed in Harlem, New York, in the late 1960s. Originally known as The Poets, the group changed its name to The Main Ingredient in 1968. They gained prominence with their smooth harmonies and catchy melodies during the 1970s. The band's most successful period came when Cuba Gooding Sr. joined as the lead singer, following the death of former frontman Donald McPherson in 1971.
