The Leisure Society

The Leisure Society

British Indie Folk Band

The Leisure Society is an English indie folk band formed by Nick Hemming and originally based in Burton upon Trent. Hemming, the principal songwriter for the group, was previously associated with early incarnations of other notable indie bands such as The Telescopes and She Talks to Angels, which included actor Paddy Considine and filmmaker Shane Meadows. The band gained significant attention with their debut album "The Sleeper," released in 2009, which earned them two Ivor Novello award nominations for Best Song Musically & Lyrically. Their music is known for its intricate arrangements, featuring a blend of folk, pop, and orchestral elements.
