Hank Mobley was an influential American jazz tenor saxophonist and composer, known for his smooth tone and soulful improvisation. Born on July 7, 1930, in Eastman, Georgia, Mobley became a prominent figure in the hard bop scene of the 1950s and 1960s. He was a member of the original Jazz Messengers led by Art Blakey before starting his own projects. The Hank Mobley Quintet was one of his ensembles that showcased his compositional skills and featured other talented musicians of the era.
