The Hague Philharmonic

The Hague Philharmonic

Dutch Symphony Orchestra

The Hague Philharmonic, also known as the Residentie Orkest, is a Dutch symphony orchestra based in The Hague. Founded in 1904 by Henri Viotta, it has a long history of musical excellence. Throughout its career, the orchestra has been led by various prominent conductors, including Willem van Otterloo, who served as its chief conductor from 1949 to 1973 and helped to establish its reputation. The orchestra plays a wide repertoire, ranging from classical to contemporary music, and has performed with many distinguished soloists. It also actively commissions new works and engages in educational and outreach programs. The Hague Philharmonic has made numerous recordings over the years and continues to contribute to the cultural scene both in the Netherlands and internationally.
