The Good Missionaries

The Good Missionaries

British Post-Punk Experimentalists

The Good Missionaries were an offshoot of the UK punk band Alternative TV (ATV), which was formed by Mark Perry in 1977 following his departure from ATV. The Good Missionaries emerged during the post-punk era, a time when many artists were experimenting with new sounds and pushing the boundaries of punk music. They were known for their avant-garde approach and improvisational style, which often incorporated elements of free jazz and noise into their music. The band's lineup was somewhat fluid, but key members included Mark Perry and guitarist Andy Warren. While they did not achieve mainstream success, The Good Missionaries were part of a wave of post-punk bands that influenced the alternative and indie music scenes. Their work is often appreciated by aficionados of the genre for its experimental nature and contribution to the post-punk movement.
