The Evens

Indie Rock Duo

The Evens is an indie rock duo from Washington, D.C., formed in the fall of 2001. The band consists of Ian MacKaye (vocals, guitar), formerly of the influential hardcore punk bands Minor Threat and Fugazi, and Amy Farina (vocals, drums), who was previously in the band The Warmers. The Evens are known for their minimalist, melodic sound that diverges from MacKaye's earlier hardcore punk work. They have released three albums: "The Evens" (2005), "Get Evens" (2006), and "The Odds" (2012). Their music is characterized by its DIY ethic and often addresses themes of social justice and personal politics. The duo is also notable for performing at non-traditional venues such as libraries, museums, and community spaces rather than typical rock clubs.
