Jazz-Fusion Duo

The Clarke/Duke Project was a collaborative effort between two prominent figures in the jazz and funk genres: bassist Stanley Clarke and keyboardist George Duke. Both artists had established successful solo careers before coming together for this project. Stanley Clarke gained fame as a founding member of the pioneering jazz fusion group Return to Forever, led by Chick Corea, and for his innovative approach to playing the electric bass. George Duke was known for his work as a jazz keyboardist, producer, and composer, having played with artists like Frank Zappa and having a successful solo career that spanned jazz, funk, and R&B.
