The Buckaroos

The Buckaroos

Legendary Country Backing Band

The Buckaroos were best known as the backing band for country music legend Buck Owens. Formed in the early 1960s, they played a significant role in developing and popularizing the Bakersfield sound, which was characterized by a raw, energetic style of country music with a rock and roll edge. The band's lineup changed several times over the years, but notable members included Don Rich on lead guitar and fiddle, who was Owens' right-hand man until his untimely death in 1974. The Buckaroos recorded several albums of their own and scored hits with instrumentals like "Buckaroo." They were also a fixture on Owens' TV show, "Hee Haw," and toured extensively with him. While they are not as widely known for their standalone work, The Buckaroos were instrumental in shaping the sound of country music in the 1960s and 1970s and influenced many artists who came after them.
