The Bothy Band

The Bothy Band

Irish Traditional Folk Group

The Bothy Band was an influential Irish folk group that emerged in the mid-1970s and played a pivotal role in the revival of traditional Irish music. The band was known for its dynamic and spirited arrangements of jigs, reels, and ballads, which they infused with a modern sensibility while still respecting the deep roots of the genre. The ensemble featured a collection of talented musicians, including Mícheál Ó Domhnaill on guitar and vocals, Paddy Keenan on uilleann pipes, Matt Molloy on flute, Dónal Lunny on bouzouki, Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill on clavinet and vocals, and Kevin Burke on fiddle.
