The Agonist is a Canadian metal band formed in 2004 in Montreal, Quebec. Known for their technical proficiency and the versatility of their female lead vocalist, the band initially gained recognition with their debut album "Once Only Imagined" in 2007. Their music is characterized by a blend of melodic death metal with elements of metalcore, and they are noted for incorporating clean and harsh vocals. Over the years, The Agonist has undergone several lineup changes, most notably the departure of original vocalist Alissa White-Gluz in 2014, who was replaced by Vicky Psarakis. This change occurred prior to the release of their fourth studio album "Eye of Providence" in 2015. The band has toured extensively, building a strong fan base internationally and has been known for their energetic live performances. They have released several albums throughout their career, contributing to the evolution of their genre with each release.
