Dutch Progressive Metal Band

Textures was a Dutch progressive metal band formed in 2001. They were known for their innovative blend of metal with complex rhythms, melodic atmospheres, and aggressive riffs, which positioned them within the djent movement before the term was widely recognized. Textures released their debut album "Polars" in 2003, which garnered attention for its technical proficiency and dynamic songwriting. The band's follow-up albums, including "Silhouettes" in 2008 and "Phenotype" in 2016, continued to showcase their evolution in sound and musicianship. Throughout their career, Textures gained a reputation for their energetic live performances and were part of numerous tours and festivals across Europe and beyond. Despite their success and influence within the progressive metal scene, Textures announced their breakup in 2017, citing personal reasons. They left behind a legacy as one of the genre's pioneering acts.
