Stretch

Stretch

Stretch was a British rock band that formed in 1974 after the departure of bassist and vocalist Elmer Gantry from Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera. The band was put together by Gantry and guitarist Kirby Gregory, who had previously played with Curved Air. Stretch is best known for their hit single "Why Did You Do It?" which was a response to the acrimonious departure of Mick Taylor from The Rolling Stones, an event that indirectly led to the formation of Stretch. The song became their biggest hit, reaching the top 20 in several European countries.
