Steve Harley

British rock musician and Cockney Rebel frontman

Steve Harley is an English singer-songwriter and musician, best known as the frontman of the rock band Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel. Born on February 27, 1951, in Deptford, London, Harley formed Cockney Rebel in 1972 and quickly gained popularity with their blend of glam and progressive rock. The band's hit single "Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me)" reached number one on the UK Singles Chart in 1975 and remains Harley's most recognized song. Throughout his career, Steve Harley has released a number of solo albums as well as recordings with Cockney Rebel. His work is characterized by his distinctive vocal style and narrative lyrics. While he may not have maintained the commercial success of his mid-70s peak, Harley has continued to record and perform, maintaining a loyal fan base and respected status as a veteran singer-songwriter.
