The Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela, previously known as the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela, is one of the most prominent orchestras in Venezuela and has gained international acclaim. It is the flagship ensemble of the country's National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras and Choirs, known as "El Sistema," which was founded by the visionary musician and educator José Antonio Abreu in 1975. The orchestra serves as a beacon of El Sistema's mission to use music as a vehicle for social change, providing extensive training and performance opportunities to young musicians from across Venezuela.
