Supergroup Melds Doom Metal Icons

Shrinebuilder was a supergroup formed in 2008, consisting of prominent musicians from various influential bands within the doom metal, stoner rock, and sludge metal genres. The band's lineup included Scott "Wino" Weinrich of Saint Vitus and The Obsessed on guitar and vocals, Al Cisneros from Sleep and Om on bass and vocals, Scott Kelly of Neurosis on guitar and vocals, and Dale Crover from the Melvins on drums. Shrinebuilder released their self-titled debut album in 2009, which was well-received within the heavy music community for its blend of doom-laden riffs, psychedelic atmospheres, and dynamic songwriting. The project was notable for bringing together these iconic figures of the underground metal scene to collaborate on a singular work. Despite the excitement surrounding their formation and debut release, Shrinebuilder was short-lived as a band, with only a few live performances following the album's release.
