Shaver

Shaver

Outlaw Country Music Pioneer

Shaver was a country band formed by singer-songwriter Billy Joe Shaver and his son, guitarist Eddy Shaver. The band's music is often categorized as outlaw country, a subgenre that emerged in the 1970s as a reaction to the polished Nashville sound. Billy Joe Shaver, the frontman of the group, was a significant figure in the outlaw country movement and is known for his rugged, honest songwriting. He wrote songs for Waylon Jennings' seminal album "Honky Tonk Heroes," which helped to define the movement. Throughout their career, Shaver released several albums that were well-received within the country music community. The band's work was characterized by Billy Joe's raw vocal style and Eddy's skilled guitar playing until Eddy's untimely death in 2000. The Earth Rolls On was their last album released before Eddy passed away.
