Samuel Wesley

Samuel Wesley

British Classical Composer and Organist

Samuel Wesley (1766–1837) was an English organist and composer, a contemporary of Haydn and Beethoven, and a child prodigy like Mozart. He was the son of Charles Wesley, the hymn-writer, and the nephew of John Wesley, the founder of Methodism. Despite his family's strong religious ties, Samuel Wesley's own musical career was more secular in nature. He is often referred to as "the English Mozart" due to his impressive compositional skills at a young age.
