Salvador Bacarisse

Salvador Bacarisse

Spanish Classical Composer and Pianist

Spanish composer (12 September 1898, Madrid - 5 August 1963, Paris) mostly known for his Concertino for Guitar and Orchestra in A minor, Op. 72, composed in 1952 in a neo-romantic style and recorded by Narciso Yepes. After studying piano and composition at the Real Conservatorio de Música in Madrid and working as the artistic director of Unión Radio, he exiled himself to Paris at the end of the Spanish Civil War in 1939, rejecting the militarist regime of Franco. From 1945 until his death, he worked for Radio-Télévision Française as a broadcaster of Spanish-language programs. He composed for the piano, mixed chamber ensembles, operas and orchestral works including four piano concertos and a violin concerto.
