Ruggiero Ricci

Ruggiero Ricci

Celebrated American Violin Virtuoso

Ruggiero Ricci (1918–2012) was an American violinist known for his virtuosic technique, rich tone, and extensive repertoire. He was a child prodigy, having started playing the violin at the age of six and making his public debut at ten. Ricci's career spanned over seven decades, during which he performed with major orchestras around the world and worked with many distinguished conductors. He was particularly renowned for his interpretations of Paganini's works and was one of the first violinists to record all 24 Caprices solo. Ricci made numerous recordings throughout his career, contributing significantly to the catalog of violin music. His teaching career was also notable, as he taught at several prestigious institutions, imparting his knowledge to a new generation of violinists.
