Roy Ayers Ubiquity

Roy Ayers Ubiquity

Legendary Jazz-Funk Vibraphonist and Band

Roy Ayers Ubiquity was a funk, soul, and jazz band led by vibraphonist Roy Ayers. The group was active during the 1970s and early 1980s and was a significant force in the jazz-funk movement. Roy Ayers, born on September 10, 1940, in Los Angeles, California, began his career as a post-bop jazz artist before transitioning into more R&B and funk-influenced sounds. He is often referred to as the "Godfather of Neo-soul" and is renowned for pioneering the use of the vibraphone in funk music.
