Robert-Nicholas-Charles Bochsa

French Harpist and Composer

Robert Nicolas-Charles Bochsa was a french composer, harpist, flautist and pianist. He was born on 9 August 1789 to Bohemia musician/composer Charles Bochsa. In 1817, Robert Nicolas-Charles fled France to avoid criminal prosecution for counterfeiting/forgery but was convicted in absentia. He later became entangled with opera singer Anna Rivière-Bishop, who was wife of the English composer Henry Bishop. He maintained a relationship with Rivière-Bishop until his death on 6 January 1856 in Sydney, Australia.
