Petite Noir

Petite Noir

South African Multi-genre Artist

Petite Noir is the stage name of Yannick Ilunga, a Congolese-South African artist known for his distinctive blend of post-punk, electronic, and African influences, which he has termed "Noirwave." Born on August 24, 1990, in Brussels to a Congolese father and an Angolan mother, he was raised in Cape Town, South Africa. His music career began to gain traction with the release of his debut EP "The King Of Anxiety" in 2015. The EP showcased his unique sound and garnered critical acclaim. Later that year, he released his first full-length album "La Vie Est Belle / Life Is Beautiful," which further established his innovative style and featured collaborations with artists such as Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def), among others. Petite Noir's work is characterized by its genre-bending approach and introspective lyrics, and he has been recognized for his contribution to the contemporary music scene with a sound that crosses cultural and musical boundaries.
