Peter Van Heyghen

Belgian Baroque Music Specialist and Conductor

Peter Van Heyghen is a Belgian musician, conductor, and musicologist specializing in the performance of Baroque and Renaissance music. He is known for his expertise in historical performance practice and has gained recognition as both a recorder player and a conductor. Van Heyghen is the founder and director of the ensemble Les Muffatti, which focuses on 17th- and 18th-century repertoire, and he also co-directs the ensemble More Maiorum. Additionally, he teaches historical performance practice at the Royal Conservatories of Brussels and Antwerp. Throughout his career, Van Heyghen has been involved in numerous recordings that have been well-received for their authenticity and musicality. His work often involves collaborations with other early music specialists to explore lesser-known works from the Baroque era.
