Peter Hook

Peter Hook

British post-punk bassist and co-founder of Joy Division and New Order

Peter Hook is an English bass player, musician, and author, best known as a co-founder of the influential post-punk band Joy Division and the alternative dance group New Order. Born on February 13, 1956, in Salford, England, Hook's distinctive bass playing and his use of the instrument as a lead melodic tool contributed significantly to the sound of both bands. After the tragic suicide of Joy Division's lead singer Ian Curtis in 1980, the remaining members formed New Order, achieving critical and commercial success.
