Percy Whitlock

Percy Whitlock

British Organist and Composer

Percy Whitlock (1903–1946) was an English organist and composer, primarily known for his works for organ. His career was largely centered around church music and he held various posts as an organist, including at Rochester Cathedral and St Stephen's Church, Bournemouth. Whitlock's compositions include organ sonatas, suites, and short pieces that have become staples in the repertoire of church and concert organists. His style is often characterized by its melodic strength and English charm, influenced by the likes of Edward Elgar and Ralph Vaughan Williams.
