Penny Rimbaud

Penny Rimbaud

British punk poet and co-founder of anarchist band Crass

Penny Rimbaud is a musician, poet, and writer, best known as the drummer and co-founder of the influential anarcho-punk band Crass, which was active from 1977 to 1984. Born Jeremy John Ratter in 1943, he adopted the pseudonym Penny Rimbaud after becoming involved in the countercultural movement. Crass combined punk music with radical politics, promoting anarchism as a political ideology and a way of life. The band's DIY ethic and their insistence on punk as a movement with a serious message had a significant impact on the punk scene and underground culture.
