Russian Conductor and Violinist

Pavel Kogan is a distinguished Russian violinist and conductor, born on July 6, 1952, in Moscow. He is the son of the eminent violinists Leonid Kogan and Elizaveta Gilels. Following in his parents' footsteps, Pavel Kogan has made significant contributions to classical music both as a soloist and as a conductor. He studied at the Moscow Conservatory and gained international recognition after winning the first prize at the Sibelius Violin Competition in Helsinki in 1970.
