Paul Lincke

Paul Lincke

German Composer and Conductor of Operettas

Paul Lincke (1866–1946) was a German composer and conductor who is considered the "father of Berlin operetta." His career spanned the late 19th and early 20th centuries, during which he made significant contributions to the musical landscape of Germany. Lincke is best known for his operettas such as "Frau Luna" and "Lysistrata," and for his marches and dance compositions. His most famous march, "Berliner Luft" ("Berlin Air"), is often regarded as the unofficial anthem of Berlin due to its popularity and enduring presence in German culture.
