Oskar Ekberg

Swedish Pianist and Chamber Musician

Swedish classical pianist, born in 1977 in Södertälje, Sweden. He studied for Mats Widlund at the School of Stage and Music at the University of Gothenburg 1996-98 and the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm 1998–2003. Oskar Ekberg is represented as a solo artist on SR Records with music by Jesper Nordin and on Daphne Records with the first recording on piano of Johan Helmich Roman's 12 piano suites. The latter album was nominated for a Grammy (Classic of the Year) in 2013. Ekberg's album Elfrida Andree: Complete Piano Works (Daphne Records) attracted attention not only as a cultural act but also as "gender act of the year" in the music magazine Opus 2015. Oskar Ekberg is professor of piano at Ersta Sköndal University. Ekberg is also active as an orchestra pianist in Kungl. The Philharmonic Orchestra, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra and others.
