Spanish Symphony Orchestra

Founded in 1903, this is the oldest private Spanish symphonic orchestra not related with a theatre (Barcelona's Orquesta del Liceo was founded in 1843). It was founded by members from the Sociedad de Conciertos, the first Spanish Orchestra, founded by Francisco Asenjo Barbieri in 1866. Acronym OSM. In 1905 they started a collaboration with Enrique Fernández Arbós as conductor. Other conductors have been: Conrado Del Campo, José María Franco, Enrique Jordá, Vicente Spiteri, Garcia Navarro and Jesús López-Cobos. Since 1965 to 1997 played in Teatro de la Zarzuela and recorded to Hispavox label many zarzuelas in late 1960 to mid 1970s. Since 1997 is related as holder orchestra of Teatro Real.
