Oliver Lake is an American jazz saxophonist, flutist, composer, and poet known for his eclectic approach and innovation in the world of avant-garde jazz. Born on September 14, 1942, in Marianna, Arkansas, Lake has been an influential figure in progressive jazz circles since the 1970s. He is a founding member of the World Saxophone Quartet, a group that has significantly expanded the boundaries of jazz ensemble playing with its fusion of various musical styles.
