Odhecaton

Odhecaton

Renaissance vocal ensemble

Odhecaton is not an individual artist or composer but rather an Italian ensemble that specializes in the performance of Renaissance and early Baroque music. The ensemble was founded in 1998 by Paolo Da Col, who is also the director. They are known for their historically informed performances, which means they strive to play music as it would have been played at the time it was composed, using period instruments and techniques. Odhecaton has gained recognition for their interpretations of polyphonic vocal music from the 15th and 16th centuries, and they have indeed produced albums such as "Sacræ Cantiones" (Nicolas Gombert), "Missa Defunctorum" (Tomás Luis de Victoria), "Magnificat, Miserere, Salve Regina" (Gregorio Allegri), and "Monteverdi In San Marco." Their work has contributed to the revival of interest in early music and has been well-received by critics and audiences alike.
