New York City

New York City

Indie Rock Quartet

New York City was an American R&B vocal group that found success in the 1970s. They are best known for their hit single "I'm Doin' Fine Now," which was released in 1973 and reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The group was formed by John Brown in 1972, and its members included Tim McQueen, Ed Shell, and Claude Johnson. They were signed to Chelsea Records, and their sound was a blend of smooth soul harmonies with the urban vibe of New York City life at the time. The success of "I'm Doin' Fine Now" helped to define their career, but they struggled to replicate this success with subsequent releases. Despite their brief period of prominence, New York City left a lasting impression on the soul music scene of the early '70s.
