Nazz

Nazz

1960s American Psychedelic Rock Band

Nazz was an American rock band formed in Philadelphia in 1967. The group is best known for their work in the late 1960s and early 1970s, particularly for their debut self-titled album "Nazz" and the single "Open My Eyes." The band was fronted by Todd Rundgren, who later gained significant fame as a solo artist and producer. Nazz's sound was characterized by a blend of psychedelic rock, garage rock, and power pop. Despite their initial promise and Rundgren's later success, Nazz did not achieve significant commercial success during their time together. After releasing three albums— "Nazz," "Nazz Nazz," and the posthumously compiled "Nazz III"—the group disbanded in the early 1970s. The "Fungo Bat Acetates" refer to unreleased recordings from the band's sessions that have surfaced among collectors but were not officially released during the band's active years. Todd Rundgren's departure from the band to pursue a solo career marked the end of Nazz's brief but influential run in the music scene.
