Musica Amphion

Musica Amphion

Dutch Baroque Ensemble

Musica Amphion is a baroque ensemble based in the Netherlands, founded in 1993 by harpsichordist and conductor Pieter-Jan Belder. The group specializes in the performance of 17th and 18th-century music, using historical instruments and informed by period performance practice. Musica Amphion has gained recognition for its interpretations of works by composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann, and Henry Purcell, among others. They have produced a number of recordings that have been well-received for their musicality and authenticity. The ensemble's discography includes comprehensive collections like the complete chamber music of certain composers, as well as focused recordings such as their renditions of Bach's Brandenburg Concertos. Their performances are characterized by a blend of scholarly insight and vibrant musicianship, contributing to the rich landscape of early music ensembles dedicated to bringing historical works to contemporary audiences.
