Mickie D's Unicorn

Mickie D's Unicorn

Emerging Indie Pop Group

Project of Michael Duwe (aka Mickie D), playing an idiosyncratic concoction of rock, pop and psychedelia, produced by the artist Klaus Schulze, with the aid of musicians from Kraan (Jan Fride, drums & Hellmut Hattler, bass), Metropolis (Manfred Opitz, keyboards), Ash Ra Tempel (Manuel Göttsching, TR 808) and ex-Santana drummer Michael Shrieve (originally mentioned on the album as "Sunshine"). Mickie D's Unicorn was the first artist signed for, and released on, IC Records, the label Klaus Schulze founded in 1978. Mickie's lyrics told of fairies and witches, dragons and knights, an occasional pot of gold and - of course - unicorns. And the last two songs on the album, "West Of The Moon" & "A: Elbereth", are a clear reference to J.R.R. Tolkien's "Lord Of The Rings". Besides doing all the vocals, on this album Mickie D plays Fender Stratocaster, Mini Moog, ARP Odyssee, Mellotron and Farfisa Synthorchestra.
