Michael Stern

Michael Stern is an American conductor known for his work with various orchestras and his interpretations of a wide range of repertoire. He has served as the Music Director of the Kansas City Symphony since 2005, where he has been recognized for his contributions to the orchestra's artistic growth and for overseeing the opening of the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, which became the orchestra's home in 2011. Stern is also the founding Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of IRIS Orchestra in Germantown, Tennessee, which has gained a national reputation for its innovative programming and commitment to American contemporary music.
