Michael Fields

Lute, archlute, chitarrone/theorbo, baroque guitar, harp player & opera director, born in Hawaii. He began his musical career playing folk, rock and jazz in California and Australia, until he studied older music in England in 1974 (classical guitar and lute). He directs the medieval vocal ensemble, Vox Animae, with which he recorded the Ordo Virtutum by Hildegard of Bingen. He founded a duo with Evelyn Tubb specialised in Renaissance, Baroque and early Romantic songs, sometimes recording with the group Sprezzatura.
