Memory Tapes is the recording alias of Dayve Hawk, an electronic music artist from New Jersey who emerged in the late 2000s. He is known for blending elements of chillwave, electronica, and pop into his music. Hawk initially gained attention with his projects Memory Cassette and Weird Tapes before consolidating them under the Memory Tapes moniker. His debut album as Memory Tapes, "Seek Magic," was released in 2009 and received critical acclaim for its dreamy soundscapes and melodic sensibilities. Following up with several more albums, Hawk continued to evolve his sound, maintaining a relatively low profile while cultivating a dedicated fanbase. Memory Tapes' work is characterized by its DIY ethic, with Hawk often handling all aspects of production, songwriting, and performance.
