Ludwig Daser

Ludwig Daser

Renaissance German Composer and Musician

Ludwig Daser was a Renaissance composer who served as a Kapellmeister at the court of Duke Albrecht V of Bavaria. Born around 1526, Daser's career was primarily in the service of the Bavarian court in Munich. He succeeded Orlande de Lassus as the leader of the ducal chapel, a prestigious position that indicated his significant status and influence in the musical life of his time. Daser's compositions include Masses and motets, which were typical genres for a composer of his era working in a courtly context. His music reflects the polyphonic style of the Renaissance, though not much of it has remained prominent in the modern repertoire. There is no record of Ludwig Daser producing albums as we understand them today since he lived in an era long before recorded music.
