Louis Hayes

Jazz Drummer

Louis Hayes is a renowned American jazz drummer whose career spans over six decades. Born on May 31, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, Hayes was an influential figure in the hard bop and post-bop scenes. He began his professional career at a young age and quickly established himself as a talented musician. Hayes gained prominence in the jazz world through his work with some of the genre's most iconic figures, including Horace Silver, with whom he played from 1956 to 1959. Following his time with Silver, he joined the Cannonball Adderley Quintet, where he remained until 1965, contributing to some of the group's most celebrated recordings.
