Léon Boëllmann

French Romantic Composer and Organist

Léon Boëllmann (1862–1897) was a French composer and organist, known for his contribution to the organ music repertoire. Born in Ensisheim in the Alsace region, Boëllmann showed musical promise from a young age. He moved to Paris to study at the École Niedermeyer, where he was taught by Eugène Gigout, a respected organist and composer. After his education, Boëllmann became the organist at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul in Paris, a position he held until his untimely death at the age of 35.
